Site Tour : Introduction / Procedural Sedation / Resuscitation / Clinical Cases / Arrhythmias
Introduction
The site is developed with the aiming of providing health professionals with a rich interactive learning experience based in the clinical context through the use of clinical cases and scenarios, ECGs, X-rays, images and videos.
All sections invite you to test your learning of the topic through completion of short assessments designed to reinforce major points and provide evidence for successful completion of the topic.
The site has four sections (modules)
-
Procedural Sedation - Comprising five chapters, this module provides a comprehensive introduction to the clinical practice and pharmacological options for procedural sedation.
- Resuscitation - In this module core resuscitation skills are taught using clinical cases. Practical skills are demonstrated with the aid of photographs and video demonstrations. Additional skills will be added over time.
- Clinical cases - Always the best way to learn medicine, clinical cases are used to illustrate the approach to a wide range of undifferentiated presentations including chest pain, abdominal pain, collapse, acute headache, major trauma, fever, seizures and shortness of breath. The library of cases will be expanded over time.
- Cardiac Arrhythmias - In this module clinical cases together with ECGs are used to illustrate the principles for ECG interpretation, differential diagnosis and arrhythmia management. The module is the first in a series of exploring the role of emergency investigations in clinical practice
As the site develops further modules will be added. Modules under development include Making sense of Arterial Blood Gases, Research design and statistics, ECG interpretation, Non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP / CPAP) and Rural Anaesthesia.
